The noble materials, the down of goats that we call cashmere in the West, are known as soft gold by us nomadic specialists and local designers in Mongolia.
When the steppe begins to shed its white coat, when little snouts start to appear in the enclosure, when the goats begin to rub themselves against the rocks to remove their down, we, the producing peoples, begin to comb our goats at our own pace and at the pace of Mother Nature. Cashmere, our soft gold, needs love and attention at every stage of production, all the way to you, the fans of this noble material. As for our yaks and camels, we comb them a little later, in June, when the steppe is almost green.
That is why our exceptional material guarantees the nomadic culture and its nobility.
Once our animals are combed, we move on to cleaning to remove as many small impurities as possible that get into the down, and sort it by color from the darkest (black, grey, anthracite, brown, beige) to the lightest, which is off-white. Since the creation of our brand, we have been selecting the finest and longest down with our local partner, within the framework of fair production for our nomadic producers. Our five senses, our nomadic family expertise, help us verify the qualities of cashmere for Saranguerel at 14 to 15 microns, which is 4 times finer than your hair, and double-ply for the durability of our creations. Our yak and baby camel wools also have 2 plies in natural colors. We will come back to these last two beautiful materials later in our blog. Stay connected to learn more.
