Maison Saranguerel, from a nomadic family
We directly select the best qualities of cashmere, yak wool, and camel hair from local producers, to protect the biodiversity and the ancestral knowledge of Mongolia's nomadic herders.
Nomadic life at the heart of Mongolian cashmere production
A Mongolian nomadic family owns horses, sheep, yaks, camels, and goats.
Several times a year, they move their yurt camp according to the seasons: near a river in summer for pastures, in a sheltered valley in winter to protect the herds from the freezing cold.
Harvesting cashmere, yak wool, and camel hair
In spring, animals shed their coats: goats provide the precious Mongolian cashmere down, yaks their fine wool, and camels their soft hair. These noble fibers are at the heart of the nomadic family's economy and ancestral craftsmanship: yurts, felted wool rugs, traditional clothing, and accessories.
